Zambia is a developing nation reeling under corruption, unethical and unsocial activities. In such scenario, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a rare breed of businessmen giving hope with his ethical and honest business practices. As a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been warding of negative reputation campaigns or fake news against him for a long time. Most of these negative news do not require any attention as they are exposed on their own. At the same time, some people take the help of paid media channels to distribute fake and baseless rumours which needed to be exposed with befitting replies, legal charges and press statements. One of such negative news which surprised Dr. Mahtani in recent times was the Facebook post by Miriam Mwanawasa, daughter of late ex-president of Zambia Levy Mwanawasa. Dr. Rajan Mahtani had maintained a personal and professional relationship with the late president even before his presidency started and continued till his death. As a result, this ludicrous claim coming from the daughter of a trusted friend was really shocking for Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani.
In her claim, Miriam Mwanawasa alleged that Dr. Mahtani was trying to take her family farm at the Masaiti District. However, the claim was made via a Facebook post and it had no evidence whatsoever. At the same time, there is no evidence of any undertaking from Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s end. After this ludicrous yet unsubstantiated claim started making rounds at the internet, it caught Dr. Mahtani’s statement. Normally, Dr. Rajan Mahtani would not give any attention to such unethical and baseless claims coming from social media platforms and these posts would go into oblivion on their own. However, this was a special case as it was coming from the family of Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s close friend and the claim was in itself shocking.
As a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani released a press statement in which he condemned the actions of Miriam Mwanawasa by considering it baseless, malicious and scandalous. He also wrote that proper actions will be taken against this claim as it goes against the interests of the public policies.
