The Luapula Province in Africa will now have a bio-ethanol plant where cassava, a widely available crop in Luapula, will be used a raw material. The objective of this plant is to help Luapula province to go green. With a budget of USD $150 million and partnership with the Sunbird Group, the Mahtani Group of Companies has made one of the greatest developments for Luapula Province in Africa.
A resident of the Luapula Province comments, “We are really fortunate to have been blessed with plant being setup in our own province. Over the years, we have struggled to remain employed for most of the time. Hopefully, this plant will give us a permanent solution to our problem.” The bio-ethanol plant is likely to generate a direct employment of 2, 000 workers along with creating an additional 5, 000 jobs indirectly.
Development is the key to success. With a bio-ethanol plant coming up in a province like Luapula, it is obvious that the people will find opportunities to get employed and create a good future for themselves and their family. Earlier, issues like unemployment, poor literacy rate and lack of business opportunities prevailed in Zambia, but with this plant all the aforesaid issues will be eradicated soon.
